So the return of our favorite sentient plants is an interesting twist on the original adventure of Captain Olimar released 3 years prior to this game. New Pikmin types only accessible in caves increase the difficulty of the game as all types are required under and on ground. But there is still the strategy of collecting items while maintaining the survival of our soldiers.
This game is highly accepted by fans and critics alike, enjoying the new features such as multitasking (trust me it is a godsend) and its ability to rack our brains figuring out puzzles. However no game is completely perfect. Though it is nice for some originality, there is such a thing as keeping it simple.
But hey we're going to talk about what makes this game so great!! The immense level designs are amazing, and you have to remember Olimar and Louie (the other Captain) are only a bit larger than the Pikmin which are seen to be the smallest beings on the adapted version of Earth.
See? And this is only the first level.
Also the immense amount of strategy that is needed to get ALL the treasures (yes not everything is required) is something that is not very common in games of today. Then again I don't see many Real Time Strategy games being released, do you? And the use of caves is something I found great. First it increases game time, and it really tests your skills. Only allowing 100 Pikmin with no way of making more, really teaches you how to truly use the Pikmin and their abilities to their advantages. Reds resist fire, yellows resist electricity and can be thrown the highest, blues can go in the water, and others as well.
However the game has its negative points as well. The recycling of enemies makes the game in a way a bit much, if I'm fighting Bulborb after Bulborb I'm not even going to have the thrill of adventure just PURPLE SPAM! Also they made bosses in this game too easy, and all bosses are required, unlike in the original (Smokey Progg= death to all). The worst thing most of them can do is squish your Pikmin and thats not so hard to avoid. Also the immunities of almost all the types pretty much overkills on your abilities, if I'm immune to the elements of the planet then well I'm good forever.
Now I for one am rather pleased with this game. Ok, I fucking loved it like everyone else. Pikmin 2 is just as fun as the original, keeping the same challenges and adding new ones to the mix which keep you on your toes.
Now I'm mainly going to review Nintendo games, seeing as I have no other gaming systems, so keep posted.
very good for a first post
